Who we are

About SOMLENS

Somalia Peace Lens (SOMLENS) is a Somali-led nonprofit platform advancing climate, environmental, geospatial, and natural resource intelligence to support peacebuilding and sustainable development across Somalia and the Horn of Africa. Guided by our tagline, “Climate & Resource Intelligence for Peace,” we provide trusted insights for governments, humanitarian agencies, businesses, and communities.

Using satellite imagery, artificial intelligence (AI), geospatial analysis, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and field research, SOMLENS delivers evidence-based analysis on climate security, environmental risks, resource governance, and conflict dynamics. Our work bridges critical data gaps, enabling informed decisions that strengthen resilience, stability, and inclusive growth.

Our programs

Five integrated programs

Evidence into practical action for climate- and resource-affected communities.

Climate Security & Risk Analysis

We analyze how climate stress, displacement, and conflict interact to support early warning, risk reduction, and peacebuilding.

Natural Resource & Extractives Monitoring

We track the environmental and social impacts of resource extraction to promote responsible management, stronger governance, and conflict-sensitive investment.

Environmental & Ecosystem Intelligence

We provide evidence on land degradation, deforestation, and environmental change to guide adaptation, conservation, and sustainable resource use.

Climate-Induced Displacement & Mobility

We monitor movements linked to drought, floods, and resource scarcity to support humanitarian planning and community resilience.

Geospatial & Decision-Support Services

We use satellite data, mapping, and visualization to turn complex information into practical insights for policy and action.
Services
